Winemaker’s Notes

This debut Mencia bottling is a passion-project of mine with a real sense of experimentation as I believe this varietal has a great future in coastal Sonoma. Hailing from the Iberian Peninsula of Northwest Spain, this grape produces the insider red wines of Bierzo and Ribeira Sacra, magical wines that you should seek out. We are the first to plant the variety in Sonoma, and our version is juicy, dark-fruited and broad. I think of it as a mid-point between Pinot and Syrah, complex, beautifully balanced and completely delicious. Aged for 15 months in neutral French Oak hogshead barrels. 

Drink on release or age up to five years.
